Working in partnership with Oxford Direct Services we accomplished completion on the regeneration scheme which reduces congestion and environmental externalities along roads leading to and from Oxford city centre. The scheme included the uplift of the tired existing paving, 600mm excavation, rebuild of the capping and sub base and the relay of in excess of 1100 square metres of Brett 200 x 100 x 80 Brindle block paving. The scheme was completed within the timeframe, to budget and continued our trend of zero incidents on site.

The schemes primary objective was to allow the unhampered continuation of bus services during the works, thus the scheme was broken into three stages to allow the free flow of buses during our time on site. Due to the regular high frequency of pedestrians and buses, safe routes of passage were set up to allow safe access and egress at all times for members of the public with vehicular, pedestrian and plant marshals on site during working hours.

Under recent proposals Oxford city centre could become the world’s first Zero Emissions Zone which would see all polluting vehicles phased out from 2020. Oxford are leading the UK on environmental technology innovation and over half of their buses powered by hybrid technology.
